Can I use ‘non-BISSELL’ formulas in my BISSELL machine?

We don't recommend this, as some cleaning products may not be suitable.

How does the "3 for 2" offer on Cleaning Formulas work? Can I mix and match?

When you buy 3 bottles of BISSELL Cleaning Formula, you receive the cheapest one for free. You can "mix and match", you don't have to buy 3 of the same formula. To take advantage of this offer, you must add 3 bottles of cleaning formula to your basket, and then the discount will be applied when you checkout. This offer only applies to BISSELL Cleaning Formulas - machines, accessories, and bundles are not included.

Can I use a Carpet Cleaner on wool carpets?

This is not recommended, as wool carpets can be extremely delicate. Check with the carpet manufacturer before cleaning.

Where do I find the model/serial number of my machine?

Model and serial numbers are printed on a label, which is usually located on the back or on the base of the unit. The serial number follows the model number.

How do BISSELL Carpet Cleaners compare with rental machines or professional cleaners?

When it comes to convenience, there is no comparison. Owning your own machine means you can clean when it fits your schedule - you're not tied to someone else's schedule or a store's 24-hour return policy. Besides, spills and pet accidents don't happen on a planned basis and the sooner they're cleaned, the better. But beyond convenience, when you add up the continuous cost of professional cleaning of several machine rentals, the initial cost of a BISSELL Carpet Cleaner is quickly recouped.

How large an area can I clean with a BISSELL carpet cleaner?

When using our full size upright deep cleaning machines (such as the ProHeat 2X Revolution), typically a 10' x 12' room can be cleaned before the dirty water tank needs to be emptied and new cleaning formula and fresh water need to be added. With our smaller upright deep cleaning machines (such as InstaClean Compact or HydroWave), typically an 8' x 8' area can be cleaned before the dirty water tank needs to be emptied and new cleaning formula and fresh water need to be added. These amounts will vary based on how much water/solution you are releasing onto your cleaning surface.

Are all deep cleaners properly equipped to clean an entire home?

Some deep cleaners, such as the upright InstaClean Compact or the HydroWave, are better suited to cleaning small areas and everyday messes and spills. If you are planning to clean your entire home, it would be better to choose a full-sized deep cleaner, such as the ProHeat 2X Revolution.

To use the tool, start by attaching the hose to the foot of your carpet cleaner. Make sure the coloured relase clip is facing out, away from the machine.

Once the hose is attached to your carpet cleaner, attach the 2-in-2 Pet Tool to the other end of the hose.

Turn the carpet cleaner on.

Use the slider on the Pet Tool to choose your cleaning mode. Select "Dry Mode" to remove debris, dust and pet hair: the dry suction part is the lower part of the tool, near the dry tub. Use a "raking" motion to clean. The rubber nubs will help attract hair to the suction channel. The hair is collected in a seperate dry tub.

After dry vacuuming, you can use your tool to remove spots, stains and odours from your upholstery by Wet Cleaning. To Wet Clean, make sure your Clean Water Tank contains water and cleaning formula. Move the slider on the tool to "Wet Mode". Then, with the cleaning nozzle in contact with the upholstery, press the spray trigger and pull the tool towards you. It's best to work in small sections until the area is clean.

When you have finished cleaning, turn off the machine, and remove the hose from the carpet cleaner - press on the relase clip to dettach the hose. Then close to hose door.

Are BISSELL Cleaning Formulas safe for use around children and pets?

Yes, BISSELL Cleaning Formulas are safe for use around children and pets, when used as directed. Please always consult the bottle and the safety instructions before use.

How do you change the belts on the ProHeat 2X® Revolution® Pet Pro?
Why does my ProHeat 2X® Revolution® Pet Pro have no suction in the foot?
How many rooms will 1 bottle of formula clean?

We cannot say exactly, as it depends on how much the trigger is pressed during the cleaning process, but approximately 2-3 average size rooms. When filling the clean water tank with water and formula, there are two measurement lines - one for water and one for formula (some formulas also have a measuring cap), to ensure you are using the correct amount of both. When cleaning large areas that require more than one tank, it is best practice to let the tank empty before refilling with fresh water and formula to ensure the mix is balanced to recommendations.

Can I use any BISSELL formula in any carpet cleaner?

Our Carpet Cleaning Formulas, including the Wash & Protect, Wash & Refresh and Wash & Remove ranges, can be used in all upright carpet cleaners - even in non-BISSELL machines. The Spot Cleaning formulas are only for use in BISSELL portable/handheld carpet cleaners or Spot Cleaners.

Why doesn't my ProHeat 2X® Revolution® Pet Pro spray?
How do I work out how much formula is required?

When you are filling the clean water tank on your machine, you will notice measurement lines on the back of the tank - one for water and one for formula (some formulas also have a measuring cap), to ensure you are using the correct amount of both. When cleaning large areas that require more than one tank, it is best practice to let the tank empty before refilling with fresh water and formula to ensure the mix is balanced to recommendations.

How do I assemble the PowerFresh® Slim Steam Mop?
How long should it take my carpets to dry after being cleaned?

If your carpet cleaner has the "Express Mode", this will allow your carpets to dry in approx. 30 minutes. For other cleaning modes, or if your Upright Carpet Cleaner does not have "Express Mode", we would advise approximately 3-4 hours depending on weather conditions. To reduce drying time, open windows and doors if possible to improve ventilation.
